The 50th chapter of ThriVe! with Babs opened with a bold theme: destiny. More than a lofty idea, destiny was presented as a practical compass for making life’s toughest decisions and for shaping the kind of person we become.
Babs Oladele reminded participants that the series is not about quick success formulas but about uncovering the principles that sustain growth, purpose, and fulfillment. Drawing from biblical narratives and personal reflections, he set the stage for a new four-part series designed to help participants reflect deeply on where they stand in life’s unfolding journey.
Defining Destiny in Real Terms
The discussion came alive as participants offered their own perspectives:
Alexandria described destiny as the reason for existence, noting that contentment is the truest form of fulfillment.
Stephen Happiness emphasized that destiny shows itself when one finds peace and satisfaction in life’s current realities.
Oloruntobi Jumoke added a profound insight, calling destiny the alignment of purpose, choice, and impact, with inner peace as the surest marker of progress.
Babs wove these perspectives together, pointing out that a recurring theme—contentment—emerges whenever people try to define fulfillment. He also shared his own lessons from research and experience, reminding everyone that this journey cannot be reduced to luck or circumstance; it requires awareness, reflection, and intentional living.
The Stages of Destiny
In his keynote, Babs outlined 14 stages of destiny, beginning with bondage and culminating in fulfillment. Using the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to Canaan as a guiding metaphor, he highlighted how each stage corresponds to a stage of personal growth:
Egypt represents beginnings, limitations, and the dissatisfaction that pushes us forward.
The Wilderness is the place of shaping—where distractions, challenges, and tests refine character.
Canaan symbolizes the fulfillment of purpose, a place where vision matures into legacy.
He explained that just as the Israelites faced distractions like the golden calf, individuals today must navigate competing desires, misplaced priorities, and the tension between faith and doubt. At every stage, character is formed, vision is tested, and the path toward destiny becomes clearer.
Collaboration Between Humanity and Divinity
One of the session’s central insights was that destiny cannot be achieved in isolation. Babs emphasized that destiny is best realized when humanity collaborates with divinity—when personal effort meets divine guidance. He acknowledged that while every individual has a destiny, not everyone fulfills it, because it requires both responsibility and obedience.
This perspective urged participants to examine where they are in their own journeys, not only for personal gain but also for the legacy they can leave for others.
Building Legacy Through Destiny
As the session closed, Babs encouraged participants to think generationally. Fulfillment is not only about reaching personal Canaan; it is also about passing wisdom, values, and vision to others. The journey of destiny, he stressed, is as much about what you leave behind as what you achieve for yourself.
This landmark 50th chapter set the tone for deeper conversations ahead. With three more parts to come in this series, the community is invited to keep reflecting, asking questions, and sharing insights as they navigate their own journeys of destiny.
