My Capstone project at the Clinton School of Public Service did not just expose me to the socioeconomic issues in the Delta Region of the United States, but also afforded me the opportunity to witness firsthand how developed nations go about tackling their developmental issues while at the same time contrasting that with what is obtainable in my native country.
We can certainly do better.
The Naijaspora Project is a fallout of my ongoing experience and gleanings from participating in the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement-led efforts to address equitable access to food, health and economic opportunities in the Delta region of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi through the use of innovative technologies.
Per Nigeria’s own plethora of issues, I believe the disporans have a critical role to play beyond paying black tax, and there is no better time to start than now.
Inspired by a Bill Clinton quote, which I have adapted thus:
“THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH NIGERIA THAT CANNOT BE CURED BY WHAT IS RIGHT WITH NIGERIA.”
